New First Team Manager Appointed

The club are delighted to announce James Lally as the new 1st Team Manager ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Lally joined the club back at the start of the 2019/20 season and has held the role of Development Team Manager since. This season has seen Lally lead the Development Team to a creditable 2nd place finish in the South West Women’s Regional League whilst also overseeing the progression of our clubs young players with 9 players making their first team debuts across the season.

On his appointment Lally spoke to the clubs media team, “I am delighted to have been appointed to the role of 1st team manager ahead of the upcoming season.

“I’d like to thank the club for giving me this opportunity as well as every player that has played for me in the development squad, it is their hard work that has made this possible.”

Lally went on to show his appreciation for outgoing manager Jamie Lloyd-Davies, “Under Jamie’s leadership over the past 3 seasons, the club has developed significantly on and off the field. Along with the support of my staff we will be working tirelessly to continue developing the 1st team and the club, ensuring that we are competitive this coming season and beyond.”

Next season promises to be another exciting one for the club in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One with a host of new clubs expected to be part of the makeup following promotions and relegations at tiers 3 & 5.

Chairman Martin Wheeler had the following to say on the appointment, “We are delighted to be able to announce James as our new First Team Manager and we are fully aware of the skills and expertise that he will bring to the role.

“As soon as we started the process of looking for a new 1st team manager we quickly identified James as the candidate that we wanted to lead the 1st Team and his enthusiasm to continue to grow the club not only on the pitch but off it shone throughout our conversations.

“His track record in developing players whilst also being fully integrated into the club will support the transition into the First Team Managers role.”

As part of the appointment we can also confirm that James will be supported by Keehlan Panayiotou (1st Team Coach), David Tomlinson (1st Team Coach & Head of GK), Imogen Webb (Sports Therapist) & Mike Peacock (Head of Performance).
