Swindon Town Women awarded funding to help with our continued return to action
Swindon Town Women FC are celebrating receiving funding from the Premier League to help continue to ensure football is safe for supporters at the home of Fairford Town FC, Cinder Lane.
Tim Hall, Club Secretary, said: “It is fantastic to receive the support and funding via the Football Foundation & Premier League at a time where rightly we are putting in lots of extra measures to ensure fans can attend home games at Cinder Lane and feel safe in the current times.
“With these measures naturally come additional costs at a time when every club is finding it tough so the funding is welcomed to support the additional expenditure.”
The Matchday Support Fund grant will help us put in place measures that will make our home of safer for the 2020/21 season given the ongoing challenges we face due to COVID-19.
The Matchday Support Fund is managed by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), which is financed by the Premier League and supports non-league and Women’s Football Pyramid clubs with the cost of improvements to their grounds.
The Matchday Support Fund follows the recent Pitch and Club Preparation Funds, which saw £8.7m in grants awarded by the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation to prepare the country’s playing surfaces and facilities for the return of football.
